V Of <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 558 20 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KE KAI ALA <br /> FOUNDATION TO ASSIST WITH THE WAFAHA ROOTS BODYBOARDING SURF <br /> EVENT. <br /> WHEREAS, Ke Kai Ala Foundation is a 50 1(c)(3)nonprofit organization whose mission <br /> is to contribute to the wellbeing of Hawai'i's youth, environmental conservation, and cultural <br /> traditions through sustainable community gatherings on the Island of Hawaii; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ke Kai Ala Foundation is coordinating the Wai'aha Roots Bodyboarding <br /> Surf event, which will be held at Wai'aha Beach Park on June 6,2020; and <br /> WHEREAS, participants of the event will also beautify and mdlama the Wai'aha Beach <br /> Park by removing litter and weeds from the park; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ke Kai Ala Foundation has requested funds to help defray the costs for <br /> fliers, trophies, food service ware, and t-shirts for the Waiaha Roots Bodyboarding Surf event; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS,the Department of Parks and Recreation strives to provide services and <br /> opportunities that meet the needs of the Big Island community while maintaining cultural <br /> uniqueness of our rich heritage and diversity, as well as partnering with groups and organizations <br /> to improve and maintain recreational facilities and enhance programs; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139 (a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program,project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Ke Kai Ala Foundation to assist with the Wai'aha <br /> Roots Bodyboarding Surf event. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
