V Of COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 558 20 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KE KAI ALA FOUNDATION TO ASSIST WITH THE WAFAHA ROOTS BODYBOARDING SURF EVENT. WHEREAS, Ke Kai Ala Foundation is a 50 1(c)(3)nonprofit organization whose mission is to contribute to the wellbeing of Hawai'i's youth, environmental conservation, and cultural traditions through sustainable community gatherings on the Island of Hawaii; and WHEREAS, Ke Kai Ala Foundation is coordinating the Wai'aha Roots Bodyboarding Surf event, which will be held at Wai'aha Beach Park on June 6,2020; and WHEREAS, participants of the event will also beautify and mdlama the Wai'aha Beach Park by removing litter and weeds from the park; and WHEREAS, Ke Kai Ala Foundation has requested funds to help defray the costs for fliers, trophies, food service ware, and t-shirts for the Waiaha Roots Bodyboarding Surf event; and WHEREAS,the Department of Parks and Recreation strives to provide services and opportunities that meet the needs of the Big Island community while maintaining cultural uniqueness of our rich heritage and diversity, as well as partnering with groups and organizations to improve and maintain recreational facilities and enhance programs; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139 (a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program,project, event, activity, service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Ke Kai Ala Foundation to assist with the Wai'aha Roots Bodyboarding Surf event. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
