OF <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII .; �''�=��/_#- STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 571 20 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO LA`I`OPUA 2020 FOR <br /> EXPENSES TO PROVIDE FREE MEALS IN KONA DURING THE COVID-19 <br /> PANDEMIC. <br /> WHEREAS, La`i`Opua 2020 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that promotes unity <br /> by establishing social, educational, recreational, medical, and cultural services,programs, and <br /> infrastructure that assist the residents of Hawai`i County; and <br /> WHEREAS, the COVID-19 pandemic is causing a severe hardship on families in Kona, <br /> including the ability for able bodied adults to provide meals for children and kupuna; and <br /> WHEREAS, staff and volunteers will prepare meals, utilizing a certified kitchen, and <br /> meals will be prepared for pick-up and also delivered to those in need; and <br /> WHEREAS, La`i`Opua 2020 is requesting funds to help pay for food and supplies <br /> associated with the preparation and delivery of the free meals; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that <br /> promote the health, safety, and welfare of the community through alcohol-, tobacco-, and drug- <br /> free activities; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to La`i`Opua 2020 for expenses to provide free meals in Kona <br /> during the COVID-19 pandemic. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
