Chair’s report on phamaceutical and personal care products (PPCPs) in <br />wastewater and the effects of treatments for their removal. <br /> <br />b. Director’s Informational Report. (Note: The report and agenda are posted <br />online on the County Calendar and on the County’s website under Boards and <br />Commissions, Environmental Management Commission (http://records.co. <br />hawaii.hi.us/weblink/Browse.aspx?startid=8405&dbid=1). <br /> <br />The Director will provide informational updates on the following: <br /> <br />(1) Status of the proposed Pāhala and Nāālehu Wastewater Treatment Plants. ʻ <br />(As the County of Hawaiʻi is being sued in Sandra L. Demoruelle v. Dora Beck <br />et al., Civil No. 18-1-00206, discussion of the Pāhala and Nāālehu projects ʻ <br />will be limited.) <br /> <br />(2) Status of the polystyrene ordinance (Ord. 17-63) on food containers and <br />food service ware. <br /> <br />(3) Status of the Kealakehe WWTP R-1 Upgrade Project (submitted a grant <br />request to the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation). In addition, the State DOH’s <br />Reuse Guidelines are being provided to the commissioners. <br /> <br />(4) Status of proposed bill regarding the EMC’s 45-day review period of <br />legislation. <br /> <br />(5) Authority to require private laterals to correct high inflow and infiltration. <br /> <br />(6) Clarification on the sump in Kona, which has discharge limits that act as a <br />permit. <br /> <br />(7) Corporation Counsel is putting together training for the Commission on the <br />Sunshine Law and how to handle appeals. <br /> <br />(8) Update on the Department of Environmental Management’s budget. <br /> <br />7. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS <br /> <br />Commissioners can suggest items they would like placed on the next agenda. <br /> <br />8. ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />The next meeting is scheduled for June 26, 2019, at the West Hawaiʻi Civic Center, <br />Building G, Kailua-Kona. <br />2 <br /> <br />
