KIM: I think I understand 100 percent <br />6 <br />what you're saying. <br />7 <br />I do want to make certain things -- take this <br />8 <br />opportunity to put forward because I do know the <br />9 <br />complexity of government, and funding it, and <br />10 <br />everything else. <br />11 <br />Going back just a second on the Commission, <br />12 <br />no matter what we say, the public does not understand, <br />13 <br />and employees at the administrative level, because we <br />14 <br />always -- and I don't mind it. That's the turf where <br />15 <br />they say, "Oh, the increase you had" – this and that. <br />16 <br />None of us on the administrative level has one iota of, <br />17 <br />say, on what we get paid. <br />18 <br />But, in regards to the County government as a <br />19 <br />whole, now, to answer it as a whole, I really am proud <br />20 <br />of the County government of Hawai ʻ i. I really am proud <br />21 <br />that approximately 75 percent of our total expenses <br />22 <br />come from property tax. I challenge anyone from any <br />23 <br />state in regards to what the services that 75 percent <br />24 <br />buys you and what you pay compared with anyplace.
