Committee on Aging Minutes of <br />May 31, 2019 <br />Page 5 <br />X Advisory Committee members were interested in looking more closely <br />at the Nutrition Program, and how to improve it to meet the different ex- <br />pectations and wishes of the boomer generation. <br />As we predicted, the new database creates more "layers" which means there is <br />less flexibility at the Hawaii County level. Nothing has changed - even with a <br />consolidated database. There is still no statewide data, and that was the pur- <br />pose of the consolidation! The problem is that the state has used consultants in <br />the re -design, and what you need is expertise within the Executive'on Aging's <br />office itself. There has been an emphasis on the "look and feel," rather than on <br />the data elements. What is needed is for the four (4) Counties data administra- <br />tors to meet to resolve the problems that they could do together. <br />9. LEGISLATIVE SUMMARY 2019 SESSION: Shelly Ogata <br />What did make it: Funding for the ADRCs, Kupuna Care, Kupuna Caregivers <br />What did not make it: Hearing aids to be covered by insurers, a private retire- <br />ment system where employees could voluntarily put part of their paychecks <br />into a retirement plan set up by the state. <br />Funding for the ADRCs, UB466 was not approved and the funding was put <br />into the base budget. <br />loo ANNOUNCEMENT'S <br />Chalintorn told us about free movies sponsored by AARP at the Regal Theatre <br />in Prince Kuhio Plaza. <br />11.
