October <br />24th is next scheduled meeting. HIWLF request received but no funding is <br />available due to no discretionary funds available at State level. <br />IX. OLD BUSINESS <br />A. Teen Dating Violence <br />• Update on cell phone safety card distribution - New members need <br />copies of the cell phone safety cards. <br />Action Item: Brooke to distribute Cell Phone Safety Farrah cards and will <br />distribute cards to Brooke for distribution on the westside. <br />B. Real Women Essay Contest <br />• Table for next months meeting. <br />Action Item: Farrah to submit report, article and pictures. Mele to distribute to <br />HTH and Janet Snyder, Mayor's PR Specialist. <br />C. Hawaii Island Women's Leadership Forum <br />• The Hawaii Island Women's Leadership Forum (HIWLF) <br />Summit is exactly one month away! Forum will be held on <br />October 19, 2018 at the Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa at <br />Keauhou Bay. <br />• HIWLF has requested funding from County Council- Three <br />resolutions are on the Council agenda for 9/19- <br />1. David - $1,000 <br />2. LeeLoy - $500 <br />3. Chung - $300 <br />The remaining three are expected to be on the Council agenda for 10/3 <br />or 10/17- <br />1. Poindexter - $1,000 <br />2. Eoff - $1,000 <br />3. Richards - amount TBA <br />• Speakers identified, tickets are for sale, registration is now <br />open <br />• Hawaii Island Women's Leadership Forum facebook page as <br />all the information. <br />• As of 9/18/18 40 tickets were sold. 25% booked on vendor <br />booths. <br />
