This is a Civil Defense message.
This is a High Wind informational update for Sunday morning, February 9.
The National Weather Service is monitoring a surface low northeast of the State of
Hawaii. This system has the potential to quickly develop into a high wind event for
Hawaii Island. If the low develops as expected advisory level winds from the west are
possible in Kohala, Hamakua, the Saddle, South Hilo, and Puna. The impacts are
expected late this evening through Monday morning.
A Wind Advisory means sustained winds of at least 30 MPH or gusts of at least 50 MPH
are expected.
At this time there are no high wind watches, advisories, nor warnings for Hawaii Island.
Due to the potential impacts of High Wind, please tie down loose objects or move
them indoors before sundown.
Be aware of the following conditions Monday morning:
• Roadways may be blocked by downed trees and other debris.
• Utility lines maybe damaged leading to outages.
Stay tuned to your radio for updates and changes in conditions.
Thank you for listening.
This is your Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency.
..:.... ..i.%c.a. ..:.g. v..-..a
