CIVIL DEFENSE AGENCY <br />MEDIA UPDATE <br />Incident: Coronavirus Update Message <br />This is a Civil Defense message. <br />Date: March 1, 2020 <br />Time: 9:00 am <br />Frequency: Every 3 hours <br />Update #: 1 <br />This is a Coronavirus informational update for Sunday, March 1 at 9:00 in the morning. <br />The following is a Department of Health Update: <br />• The Department of Health confirms that there are NO cases of Coronavirus reported in the State of <br />Hawaii. <br />• The Department of Health has NO Health Advisories for the State of Hawaii at this time. <br />The following National travel policies are in effect: <br />• For travel to Japan and South Korea, the U.S. State Department and the Centers for Disease Control <br />and Prevention have issued travel advisories for you to exercise increased caution when traveling to <br />these countries, where the risk for exposure to respiratory illnesses is high. <br />• The U.S. State Department Travel Advisory continues for U.S. Citizens prohibiting travel to China. <br />• Quarantine policies for U.S. citizens returning to the U.S. from China remain. <br />• For your information, as the coronavirus spreads globally, you should verify Department of State and <br />CDC travel advisories for where you are going before finalizing your travel plans. <br />AS A REMINDER: <br />• When you return from overseas travel, monitor your health, stay at home if you are sick, and call <br />your doctor and tell them that you are sick and have traveled overseas. <br />• Remember to practice cough and sneeze etiquette by maintaining distance and covering coughs and <br />sneezes. <br />• Washing your hands often for at least 20 seconds with soap and water is also a good practice to <br />follow. <br />Additionally, your help is needed to prevent rumors about Coronavirus. Make sure your information is up-to- <br />date and comes from a credible source. For more information regarding Coronavirus visit: <br />• Department of Health website at www.health.hawaii.gov or; <br />• The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website at www.cdc.gov. <br />• You may also call the Department of Health at 974-6001 or after-hours at 211. <br />Your Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency will continue to give you daily updates and you will be notified of <br />any changes that may affect your safety. <br />Thank you for listening.
