CIVIL DEFENSE AGENCY <br />MEDIA UPDATE <br />Incident: Coronavirus Update Message <br />This is a Civil Defense message. <br />Date: March 4, 2020 <br />Time: 3:OOpm <br />Frequency: Every 3 hours <br />Update #: 2 <br />This is a Coronavirus informational update for Wednesday, March 4 at 3:OOpm. <br />The following is a Department of Health Update: <br />Department of Health along with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have issued a <br />statement that the cruise ship Grand Princess which was docked in Hilo Feb. 29 did not pose a health <br />risk to Hawaii. A crewmember from the ship who was reported ill prior to arriving in Hawaii was taken <br />to the Hilo Medical Center and tested negative for Coronavirus. The Centers for Disease Control and <br />Prevention along with the United States Coast Guard, Department of Health, and Civil Defense will <br />continue to monitor the situation with the Grand Princess which is heading to San Francisco. <br />• The Department of Health reports there are NO cases of Coronavirus in the State of Hawaii. <br />• The Department of Health has NO Health Advisories for the State of Hawaii at this time. <br />The following National travel policies are in effect: <br />• The Department of State "Do Not Travel" advisories for China and Iran remain in effect, "Reconsider <br />Travel" advisories have been issued for Italy, Mongolia, and South Korea, and "Exercise Increased <br />Caution Travel" advisories continue for Hong Kong, Japan, and Macau. <br />• In addition, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend you not travel to China, Iran, <br />Italy, and South Korea. <br />• For your information, as the coronavirus conditions change rapidly, you should verify Department of <br />State and CDC travel and health advisories for where you are going before finalizing your travel plans. <br />AS A REMINDER: <br />Good hygiene practices are the best prevention measures for coronavirus. <br />Remember to maintain distance and cover your cough and sneezing. <br />Washing your hands often and thoroughly for at least 20 seconds with soap and water is good practice <br />to follow. <br />Additionally, your help is needed to prevent rumors about Coronavirus. Make sure your information is up-to- <br />date and comes from a credible source.
