CIVIL DEFENSE AGENCY Date: April 19, 2020
MEDIA UPDATE Time: 8:00 AM
Radio Frequency: Each Hour
Update #: 1
Incident: Coronavirus Update
This is a Civil Defense message.
th
This is a COVID-19 informational update for Sunday morning, April 19.
On today’s report of COVID-19, the total number of people who tested positive for
Hawaii Island is 61. From this 31 have been cleared as recovered and the remaining 30
are quarantined at home and monitored by the Department of Health. At this date no
one tested positive for Hawaii Island had to be hospitalized.
This high increase over the past week stems mainly from the fast food establishments
which have been closed. This so clearly demonstrates how important it is to follow the
health advisories of stay at home if you are sick, physical distancing, face coverings,
and social gatherings. The magnitude of this cluster outbreak could have been
avoided.
For your information drive through testing will be conducted today at the Hilo Civic from
9 this morning till 1 in the afternoon, it is free. Know that early testing means early
detection and early care.
Thank you, Premiere Medical Group, Bay Clinic, and the Hawaii County Task Force for
conducting this testing.
Thank you for listening and have a peaceful day.
This is your Hawaii County Civil Defense.
