^�U��UU ��������� ������� �8t2. 7/�0�020 <br />~~.~.�~~�.�.~~~�.~,��.~~~. .~' "'� <br />MEDIA UPDATE <br />Time: 2:00 PM <br />Radio Frequency: 2 hours <br />Update: #2 <br />Incident: Road Closure and High Surf Warning for North and West Facing Shores for Hawaii <br />Island <br />This is a Civil Defense message. <br />This is a Winter Weather Advisory and High Surf Warning update for Monday, February 10, at 2 <br />inthe afternoon. <br />The Winter Weather Advisory continues for the summits of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kee above <br />8,000 feet. Due to unsafe conditions of snow and ice, State Highways reports Mauna Kea <br />Access Road isclosed etthe 8,OOOfoot level tothe general public. <br />The National Weather Service has issued a High Surf Warning for north and west facing shores <br />of Hawaii Island for the districts of Ka'u, Kona, Kohala, Hamakua, Hilo, and Puna until Tuesday. <br />A High Surf Warning means there is a threat to life and property from dangerous surf. <br />Surf is forecast to build through tonight and stay at warning levels through tomorrow. <br />Due tothe High Surf Warning; <br />� <br />Expect strong breaking waves, shore break, and rip currents making swimming difficult <br />and dangerous. <br />* <br />Beaches may beclosed without notice. <br />At this time, Parks & Recreation and Ocean Safety report the following beach areas are closed <br />due to dangerous surf, <br />• MehukoneVVherf <br />• Kaunaoa Beach at Maunakea Beach Resort <br />• HepuneBeach ocean access <br />• KueBay ocean access <br />• Le`e|oeBeach Park <br />• And, Kehe|uuBeach Park <br />You will be informed of any conditions that may affect your safety. <br />Thank you for listening. <br />This is your Hawai'i County Civil Defense Agency. <br />
