CIVIL DEFENSE AGENCY Date: Saturday, June 27, 2020 <br /> MEDIA UPDATE Time: 4:30 PM <br /> Frequency: Every 3 hours <br /> Update #: 1 <br /> Incident: High Surf Advisory <br /> This is a Civil Defense High Surf Advisory message for Saturday afternoon, June 27th. <br /> The National Weather Service has issued a High Surf Advisory for south facing shores <br /> of Hawaii Island for Kona, Kau, Puna, Hilo, and Hamakua Districts from Sunday <br /> morning thru Monday. <br /> A High Surf Advisory means surf will be higher than normal, shore break, and <br /> dangerous currents could cause injury or death. <br /> Due to the High Surf Advisory, the following are issued, <br /> • Expect strong breaking waves, shore break, and rip currents making swimming <br /> difficult and dangerous. <br /> • Beach-goers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety <br /> officials and exercise caution. <br /> • And, beaches may be closed without notice. <br /> Thank you for listening. <br /> This is your Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency. <br /> Rev.
