Status of the Kealakehe Wastewater Treatment Plant R-1 Upgrade Project. <br /> <br />2. Overview of scrap metal and appliance recycling program (request of Commissioner McIntosh). <br /> <br />3. Overview of County recycling program (request of Commissioner McIntosh). <br /> <br />4. Update on the abandoned vehicle program (request of Commissioner McIntosh). <br /> <br />5. Overview of sewer repair schedule and process of responding to emergency repairs (request of <br />Chair Pequeño). <br /> <br />SOLID WASTE DIVISION PROJECTS AND UPDATES <br /> <br />1. OPERATIONS <br />SWD reinstated greenwaste collection for the Pāhoa, Waimea, Kealakehe and Keʻei <br />Transfer Stations. These sites collect greenwaste on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and <br />Sundays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. <br /> <br />SWD reinstated the collection of scrap metal and white goods at the Pāhoa, Kealakehe, <br />Waimea, Hilo and Waiōhinu Transfer Stations, Monday through Saturday from 8:00 ʻ <br />a.m. to 4:00 p.m. <br /> <br />SWD has continued the prohibition on commercial refuse going to the East Hawaiʻi Sort <br />Station. <br /> <br />2. ADMINISTRATION <br />Interviews are being held for EO-III positions. SWD is attempting to fill another five EO- <br />III positions. <br /> <br />3. SOLID WASTE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS <br />The Environmental Assessment for the Waiōhinu Transfer Station improvements has ʻa <br />Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI). SWD expects that construction for these <br />improvements will begin in August 2020. <br /> <br />
