§ 3-24 HAWAII COUNTY CODE <br />Division 7. Fees. <br />Section 3-24. Permit/variance fees. <br />(a) Applicants for sign permits pursuant to this chapter shall pay the following <br />nonrefundable fees: <br />(1) For a new sign permit, $25 for each sign; and <br />(2) For a sign permit for a sign erected prior to obtaining a sign permit $100 for <br />each sign. <br />(b) For sign variances, pursuant to this chapter, $100 for each sign or an amount equal <br />to ten percent of the total value of the sign(s), excluding installation costs, <br />whichever is greater. <br />(2004, ord 04-142, sec 2.) <br />Section 3-25. Disposition of fees. <br />(a) The following monies collected under this chapter shall be used exclusively to <br />support the administration and enforcement of this chapter and efforts to educate <br />and inform the public about the County's sign law: <br />(1) Permit and variance application fees; and <br />(2) Fines, minus costs of collection, that are collected pursuant to this chapter. <br />(b) The director of public works shall keep an accurate record, in a form approved by <br />the director of finance, of all fees and fines received and any disbursements made <br />pursuant to this chapter and shall deposit all monies received with the treasurer. <br />(c) The director of public works shall render an account of all monies received and <br />disbursed pursuant to this article to the council on or before March 1 of each year. <br />(2004, ord 04-142, sec 2.) <br />Division 8. Construction Specifications. <br />Section 3-26. Wind resistance; support. <br />Every sign shall be constructed to withstand, i.e. not flap, bend, or move when <br />subjected to, wind pressure of not less than thirty pounds per square foot of area. In <br />addition, all signs shall be rigidly and firmly braced, or securely attached or anchored to <br />the building, structure, or ground. <br />(2004, ord 04-142, sec 2.) <br />SUPP. 8 (7-2020) 3-18 <br />
