CIVIL DEFENSE AGENCY Date: August 10, 2020
MEDIA UPDATE
Incident: Coronavirus Update
This is a Civil Defense message.
Uri IT -3 FINVITITTANTA
Radio Frequency: Every 2 Hours
Update #: 1
This is a COVID-19 informational update for Monday, August 10th
On today's update of COVID-19, the number of active cases monitored by the
Department of Health is fifteen. This increase of three new cases for the Island of
Hawaii are isolated and are being monitored by the Department of Health. All three are
identified as travel related, and again emphasizes the extreme need for caution of
travel. At this date for Hawaii Island, no one is hospitalized. An active case is defined
as an individual who has tested positive for the Coronavirus and is presently monitored
by the Department of Health.
For your information, a drive through testing is scheduled today in North Kona at the
Keauhou Shopping Center. Hours are from 9.00am `til noon. Thank you Alii Health for
providing this service and the Hawaii National Guard and County Task Force for
helping.
Do know that the State of Hawaii has reinstated the 14 -day quarantine for inter -island
travel effective Tuesday, August 11. Revised quarantine requirement exemptions will
be available later today. Visit the Civil Defense website or call Civil Defense at 935-
0031.
The high increase of positive cases on Oahu have been identified as closely related to
people disregarding the policies of gatherings, distancing and face coverings. This
demonstrates how easy the virus can spread and the need of your help in following the
policies of prevention. Thank you for doing your part to keep our neighbors, friends,
family and community safe.
As a reminder, do know the wearing of face masks is mandatory on the Island of
Hawaii.
Thank you for listening, have a wonderful week.
This is your Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency.
