<br />CIVIL DEFENSE AGENCY Date: August 18, 2020 <br />MEDIA UPDATE Time: 08:00 AM <br />Radio Frequency: Every 2 Hours <br /> Update #: 1 <br />Incident: Coronavirus Update <br />This is a Civil Defense message. <br />th <br />This is a COVID-19 informational update for Tuesday, August 18. <br />On today’s update of COVID-19, the number of active cases, on Hawaii Island, monitored by the <br />Department of Health is twenty. There are three new cases of Coronavirus on Hawaii <br />Island. These cases are now isolated and monitored by the Department of Health. At this date, <br />for Hawaii Island, one person is hospitalized. <br />Hawaii Island has seen daily increases of positive cases over the past two weeks. Most of <br />these recent cases are not travel related which means the virus is being transmitted within the <br />community. As other islands begin measures to slow the spread of the virus by limiting <br />activities, we ask for your help in maintaining our beautiful lifestyle on Hawaii Island by following <br />the preventive policies. As a reminder, outdoor gatherings are limited to 100 people and indoor <br />gatherings are limited to 50 people. Within these groups, please continue practicing the policies <br />of physical distancing, cleanliness, and wearing of face coverings. <br />By following these guidelines, we can continue enjoying our parks, beaches, and time with our <br />family, friends, and neighbors. <br />Thank you for listening, have a safe week and be well. <br />This is your Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency. <br /> <br />
