<br />CIVIL DEFENSE AGENCY Date: August 31, 2020 <br />MEDIA UPDATE Time: 08:00 AM <br />Radio Frequency: Every Hour <br /> Update #: 1 <br />Incident: Coronavirus Update <br />This is a Civil Defense message. <br />st <br />This is a COVID-19 informational update for Monday morning, August 31. <br />On today’s update of COVID-19, the number of active cases, on Hawaii Island, reported <br />and monitored by the Department of Health is one hundred and sixty-five (165). There <br />are twenty-two (22) new cases of Coronavirus on Hawaii Island. These cases are now <br />isolated and monitored by the Department of Health. At this date, for Hawaii Island, <br />seventeen (17) are hospitalized and, with sadness and condolences for the families, two <br />deaths have been reported. Both are from the Yukio Okutsu Veteran’s Home. <br />For your information, there is a testing scheduled today in North Kona at the Keauhou <br />Shopping Center. Hours are from 9:00 in the morning ‘til noon. Testing are being <br />scheduled for the Puna District this week. You will be informed of scheduling when it is <br />established. Remember the purpose of testing is to identify positive cases as early as <br />possible and in this way help stop the spread of the virus. For a complete list of testing <br />facilities go to the list on the Civil Defense website. <br />In efforts to control the spread of the Coronavirus, the Hawaii Police Department has <br />been increasing their patrols and enforcement of the preventive policies of wearing face <br />coverings, distancing and gatherings. We need everybody to be responsible and follow <br />these measures to keep your family, friends, and neighbors safe.
