Kossow <br /> Deputy Managing Director <br /> <br />County of Hawai‘i <br />Office of the Mayor <br />25 Aupuni Street, Suite 2603 Hilo, Hawai‘i 96720 (808) 961-8211 Fax (808) 961-6553 <br />KONA: 74-5044 Ane Keohokālole Hwy., Bldg C Kailua-Kona, Hawai‘i 96740 <br />(808) 323-4444 Fax (808) 323-4440 <br /> <br />September 3, 2020 <br />NEWS RELEASE <br /> <br />County of Hawai‘i Announces Central Command Post to Combat COVID-19 <br />Mayor Harry Kim announced on Thursday the opening of a Central Command Post to <br />expand operations to combat the spread of COVID-19 in Hawai‘i County. <br />The purpose of the umbrella organization, under the Mayor’s Office, is to better <br />coordinate programs of County, State, and Federal agencies, and private sector entities <br />to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. <br />Aunty Sally Kaleohano’s Luau Hale is being converted into an emergency operation <br />center, which will house staff from County and State agencies tasked with, but not <br />limited to: <br /> Public education <br /> Enforcement <br /> Contact tracing <br /> Monitoring of incoming passengers <br /> Quarantine/isolation facilities <br /> Hospitalization <br /> Care facilities <br />“The Governor’s Office and the State Department of Health, along with County and <br />other State agencies will be part of the Command Center,” Mayor Kim said. <br />“We will all be working as a team on the same goal: to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 <br />in our community and to keep our people safe.” <br /> <br /> <br />County of Hawai‘i is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer. <br />
