–EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM KUPUNA HEALTHY BODY AND MIND

808 Kupuna fit

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the lives of
Hawaiʻi residents. Our new reality changes each day and our seniors
are separated from their friends, families and communities. Due to
spikes in COVID-19 cases, seniors are unable to enjoy their regular
activities, including exercise programs available through the Elderly
Activities Division of the Department of Parks and Recreation.
The County of Hawai‘i in partnership with KHON2, KHII, Nā Leo Tv,
Hawai‘i Island Adult Care, YMCA, and Blue Zones Hawaiʻi will be
helping our kupuna to get moving once again with a daily morning
exercise show broadcast on KHII (available to everyone in the State
of Hawaiʻi). For 30 minutes each morning, kupuna can exercise
together once again. The program will air Monday-Friday for 13
weeks from 9:00AM – 9:30AM beginning on October 19, 2020.
A variety of exercises including hula, yoga, Tai Chi, and dance
exercises will be features and led by Hawai‘i Island instructors.

For more information, contact the Department of Parks and
Recreation Elderly Activities Division at 961-8710.
