COMPLIANCE <br />A. TREATMENT AND DISPOSAL: <br />• 08/04/20: Kaloko WWTP UIC Permit Annual O&M Inspection. WWTP received an <br />unacceptable O&M rating. Basis of Design Review/Mass Balance Technical <br />Memorandum submitted to DOH. <br />• 07/31/20: RFI Letter submitted to DOH for the Hilo Facilities Pretreatment <br />Program that is in place for the Hilo WWTP. County is waiting on DOH response. <br />• 08/06/20: Draft Pāpaʽikou NPDES permit received from DOH. Comments <br />submitted to DOH on 08/31/20. <br />• 09/09/20: Received a Notice of Apparent Violation (NAV) from DOH on <br />wastewater collection system condition and sewage overflows. County’s response <br />due 10/09/20. Potential enforcement action centers on the County’s cast iron <br />force mains that were installed back in the 1960’s. Several breaks have been <br />experienced with two of these force mains--Lanihau and Keopu. <br /> <br />B. COLLECTION SYSTEM: No report. <br /> <br />2. OPERATIONS <br />A. TREATMENT/COLLECTION SYSTEMS AND PUMPING STATIONS/FORCE MAINS: <br />Unscheduled repairs/upgrades/replacement of failing equipment due to age and <br />prolonged wear and tear continue where necessary throughout the wastewater <br />facilities. <br /> <br />10 <br /> <br />
