Historic Resources: <br /> 18. Existing archaeological,cultural or historic sites on National Register or Hawaii <br /> Register(Contact Department of Land and Natural Resources) <br /> DL NR State Historic Properties Division has reviewed and approved the Final <br /> Archeological and cultural resources preservation plan for Palanianui. <br /> All studies have been completed and preservations areas marked off in the field. <br /> PaIamanm has adopted an"Integrated Natural Cultural Resources Management Plan" <br /> for the entire project area. MCRMP) This Projects Trails&important sites as well. <br /> Natural Resources: <br /> 19. Existing floral/faunal resources(any native or exotic plants;any listed or candidate for <br /> endangered species): <br /> There are floral and faunal resources at Palamanui in limited numbers Malapepe trees, <br /> Uhi Uhi trees)these are described&protected in the INCRMP. There is also a 74 acre <br /> tree reserve at Palamanui. Along with several Wiliwili trees which are also being <br /> protected. <br /> 20. Scenic or coastal resources: <br /> Protection of these is described in the INCRMP. <br /> Valued Cultural Resources: <br /> 21. Identify any ti-aditional and customary native Hawauan rights that are exercised in the <br /> area;the extent in which the proposed development will affect these rights;and feasible <br /> action to be taken to protect native Hawaiian rights if they exist. <br /> The Extensive Archeological and Cultural Resources Studies addressed these items. <br /> There was a Hawaiian Advisory Committee engaged by Palarnanui at that time. Some <br /> gathering of kala is protected even though at present there is very little hala at Palama- <br /> Nui. The INC RMP addresses these issues if warranted in the future. <br /> Public Access: <br /> 22- Existing public access to and along the shoreline or to mountain areas and knowledge of <br /> public access being used- <br /> Palamanui is inland 1.7 miles from the shoreline. Nearby is the Kahakai State Park <br /> which provides very good public access to the.shoreline. <br /> The site also does not abut mountain areas. There are several of Hawaiian trails within <br /> Palamanui which will be preserved and used for public access. Historic use of these <br /> trails is light. Recently the Palamanui College Students have been cleaning some of <br /> these trails. <br />
