MUKAL One, on page 5. You were asked— <br />APPELLANT SHOOK: Hold on, I was turned to page 9—Exhibit 9. Sorry, one second. Okay, <br />I think I—yeah, Exhibit 1. <br />MR. MUKAL Okay. On page 5 you were asked to provide personal references. Remember <br />that? <br />APPELLANT SHOOK: Page 5. Yes. <br />MR. MUKAL Okay. So these people know you and can attest to your character and personal <br />attributes. Is that fair? <br />APPELLANT SHOOK: Yes, sir. <br />MR. MUKAL You would agree that character and personal attributes are important as a police <br />officer recruit. You'd agree with that? <br />APPELLANT SHOOK: Character and what? <br />MR. MUKAI: Character and favorable personal attributes? <br />APPELLANT SHOOK: No, not favorable personal attributes. <br />MR. MUKAI: Well <br />APPELLANT SHOOK: So, I believe that what makes a officer good is their integrity to the law, <br />period. <br />MR. MUKAL So character doesn't mean anything to you? <br />APPELLANT SHOOK: A character attribute would be a similar to, I smile a lot versus I hold <br />true to the law and I abide by it. <br />MR.
