Page 2 <br />4 4-.Hawai"I County CommIa i <br />4 <br />Development Pl. <br />gTF�a� wa.N <br />CDP 2017 Highlights, continued <br />North Kohala <br />■ The North Kohala Community Access Group <br />helped shepherd two Grants of Public Access <br />Easements through County Council and worked <br />with Kohala Lihikai on erosion control and a <br />native planting project at'Upolu Airport; <br />■ The Action Committee hosted a series of public <br />meetings on Agricultural Water; Senator Inouye <br />set aside $1.5 million for a feasibility study. <br />Puna CDP <br />■ The Action Committee successfully advocated <br />to develop the Pahoa Regional Town Center <br />Master Plan and Sewer Feasibility Study. <br />■ The Puna Connectivity and Emergency <br />Response subcommittee continues to move <br />forward on connectivity issues in partnership <br />with the Mayor's Puna Roads Committee. <br />Hamakua <br />■ The Recommended CDP was reviewed by <br />various County and State Agencies and edits <br />were made based on this feedback. <br />■ The Steering Committee will review the <br />revised Recommended CDP in February; <br />■ The CDP will be prepped for Planning <br />Commission Hearings slated for Spring 2018. <br />Kona <br />■ The Action Committee established the Vision, <br />Goals, and Recommended Actions for an Open <br />Space Network in North Kona; <br />■ The Action Committee designated a <br />subcommittee to participate in the Kona CDP <br />Policy Amendment process initiated by the <br />Mayor's Office in 2017. <br />South Kohala <br />■ The South Kohala Action Committee continues <br />to advocate for: <br />■ Secondary access for Waikoloa Village; <br />■ Coastal evacuation/emergency shelter for <br />Kawaihae residents; <br />■ Wastewater treatment system in Puako. <br />■ The South Kohala AC meets the 4th Monday at <br />5pm every other month starting January 2018. <br />
