H. GREENWASTE DIVERSION: <br />• The "FIRST ADDENDUM TO AMENDED AND RESTATED SERVICE <br />AGREEMENT FOR AN ORGANIC WASTE DIVERSION PROGRAM ON <br />EAST Hawaii AND WEST Hawaii" was signed by the Mayor on December 2, <br />2020. The addendum makes significant changes to the agreement with our <br />vendor, including, but not limited to the following: <br />• The agreement is extended until December 31, 2036, which is an additional 10 <br />years. <br />• Effective July 1, 2021 (FY22) the service fee will increase from $82.15 to $95.83. <br />The increase service fee will cost the County approximately $574,000 more per <br />year. <br />• The vendor has the option to supplement available product (mulch/compost) with <br />off -island supply to satisfy demand, at its discretion. There is no addendum <br />restriction on where the material can come from. <br />L SCHOOL RECYCLING AND TOURS: <br />December 8, a presentation was given via Zoom to a different HCC class. These <br />tours and presentations are helpful in educating the next generation on sustainable <br />materials management. <br />December 1, a group of HCC students attended a presentation by EHOF staff, and <br />were later given a Recycling Section program overview presentation at the HI 5 <br />Redemption tent at the East Hawai'i Reload Facility. Proper COVID safety <br />protocols were observed. <br />J. SPECIAL EVENT RECYCLING: <br />The Recycling Section continues to offer free rental HI -5 event recycling bins for <br />fundraisers at community, sports or family events. Bins can be requested via an <br />online application form at hqp://www.hawaiizerowaste.org/event-planning. <br />Please submit applications for reservations well in advance of events to make sure <br />bins are available and to schedule pick-up/drop-off. The <br />www.hawaiizerowaste.org website also provides helpful resources for planning <br />zero -waste events. <br />K. HI -5 CERTIFIED REDEMPTION CENTERS (CRCs) <br />The second quarter report has been completed and submitted to DOH. <br />L. RECYCLING EDUCATION AND OUTREACH: <br />The Recycling Section's website, www.hawaiizerowaste.org, is mobile -ready <br />with enhanced location features. The Recycling Section is researching upgrades <br />to the website to improve functionality and customer experience. <br />Information is continually updated on the site. Previously aired TV and radio ads <br />are available at www.hawaiizerowaste.org/info/media-library/ (HZW's Media <br />Library page). <br />
