TAX BOARD OF REVIEW MEETING MINUTES Complaint Hearing Thursday, October 15, 2020 Aupuni Center Conference Room 101 Pauahi St., Hilo, Hawaii CALL TO ORDER Chairperson Michael Hughes called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m Present were: Board Members Michael Hughes, Grace Reinhard, Nelson Harano, Michael Okumoto, and Diane Blancett-Maddock; Deputy Corporation Counsel Craig Masuda; Real Property Tax Administrator Lisa Miura, Real Property Tax Asst. Administrator Keita Jo, and Real Property Appeals Board Clerk Sherlyn Aronce. STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC There were no statements from the public. APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES The members were provided with copies of the August 11, 12, 25, 26, Sept 8 and 9, 2020 meeting minutes. (Minutes were also emailed to the members a few weeks prior for their review.) There were no corrections noted. A call for questions was made. Mr. Harano moved to accept the minutes as presented. Seconded by Ms. Reinhard. A call for discussion was made. Motion passed by a vote of 5:0. COMPLAINT HEARING: TMK 9-4-014-033-00001 Smith, Wesley Complaint dated September 9, 2020 was presented to the Board. Present was the Complainant and his spouse. A copy of the complaint along with additional documents provided by the complainant were presented to the Board. These documents are attached hereto as Exhibit A and will be included in the Board of Review's Annual Report to the Mayor and County Council. Complainant presented their complaint. A call for questions was made and questions were presented to the complainant and County. TMK 1-3-012-043-00001 Gorham, Nickolai A copy of the complaint was presented to the Board for review. The complaint will be attached hereto as Exhibit B. Upon review of the documents the Board presented questions to County.
