C ONSTRUCTION A DMINISTRATIVE C ODE§ 5-4-3 <br />(B) Residential installations that do not utilize a preapproved system or that <br />are not consistent with approved standards including but not limited to, <br />those relating to span tables, older homes or site-built trusses. <br />(g) Installation of electrical work on residential and nonresidential electrical work in <br />special flood hazard areas shall be prepared, designed, and stamped by a person <br />who is licensed in the State of Hawai‘i as a professional electrical engineer. <br />(h) Mechanical plans, included but not limited to plumbing installation and HVAC <br />installation drawings, specifications shall be prepared, designed, and stamped by a <br />person who is licensed in the State of Hawai‘i as a professional mechanical <br />engineer, and shall be according to State statutes when required by the authority <br />having jurisdiction. Plans for single- or two family dwellings are not required to <br />show plumbing piping plans or diagrams unless requested by the authority having <br />jurisdiction. <br /> Exception: <br /> For single and two-family dwellings and residential accessory structures, plans and <br />specifications may be prepared, designed, and stamped by a person who is licensed <br />in the State of Hawai‘i as an architect or professional mechanical engineer. <br />(i) Plumbing plans and diagrams shall be required for R-3 single and two family <br />dwellings and townhouses that include four or more bathrooms. <br />(j) The authority having jurisdiction may require plans, computations, and <br />specifications to be prepared, designed, and stamped by a person who is licensed in <br />the State of Hawai‘i as an architect or professional engineer, if prescriptive <br />requirements of the construction code are not being adhered to. <br />(k) No person shall materially deviate from any reviewed plan or specifications or fail, <br />neglect or refuse to comply herewith, unless permission to do so has first been <br />obtained from the person who is licensed in the State of Hawai‘i and listed as the <br />architect or professional engineer of record. Revised drawings or a letter, or both, <br />that show such deviations and have been prepared, designed, and stamped by the <br />architect or professional engineer of record, shall be submitted to the authority <br />having jurisdiction for review and approval. <br />(2020, ord 20-61, sec 2; am 2023, ord 23-88, sec 1.) 5-4-3 <br />Section 5-4-4. Contractors and specialty contractors; work. <br />(a) Prior to issuance of a permit, applicants for a permit shall file a statement with the <br />authority having jurisdiction that includes the following: <br />(1) Name; address, email address and telephone number of each contractor or <br />specialty contractor engaged to work upon the building, structure, or project; <br />(2) Name of the responsible managing employee or authorized employee of each <br />contractor or specialty contractor; <br />(3) Phase or phases of work to be performed by each contractor or specialty <br />contractor; <br />SUPP. 15 (1-2024) <br />5-21 <br /> <br />
