C ONSTRUCTION A DMINISTRATIVE C ODE§ 5-4-21 <br />(3) After the requisite approvals from other departments or agencies have been <br />obtained, the authority having jurisdiction will either approve the application <br />or inform the applicant of deficiencies in the application within six working <br />days after the authority having jurisdiction receives notice that all approvals <br />have been obtained. <br />(4) Once approved, the authority having jurisdiction shall issue the permit in <br />accordance with section 5-5-1. <br />(2020, ord 20-61, sec 2; am 2021, ord 21-61, sec 11; am 2024, ord 24-45, sec 2.) 5-4-21 <br />Article 5. Permits. <br />Section 5-5-1. Issuance. <br />(a) Permits shall be issued in such form and detail as shall be prescribed by the <br />authority having jurisdiction. They shall specify the geographical location of the <br />premises whereon the work authorized thereby is to be done, be valid only for the <br />location so specified, and be endorsed in writing or stamped on all sets of plans and <br />specifications “REVIEWED.” <br />(b) Once a permit is issued, plans and specifications shall not be changed, modified, or <br />altered without authorization from the authority having jurisdiction, and all work <br />shall be done in accordance with the approved plans. <br />(c) The authority having jurisdiction may issue a permit for the construction of part of <br />the building or structure before complete plans and specifications for the whole <br />building or structure have been submitted or approved, provided adequate <br />information and detailed statements have been submitted that are sufficient to <br />indicate compliance with all pertinent requirements of the construction code. The <br />holder of such permit shall proceed at the holder’s own risk, without assurance that <br />the permit for the entire building or structure will be granted. <br />(d) The issuance of a permit shall not prevent the authority having jurisdiction from <br />thereafter: <br />(1) Requiring the correction of errors in the plans and specifications; <br />(2) Revoking or suspending any permit when issued in error, on the basis of <br />incorrect information supplied, or in violation of the construction code, any <br />permit or variance issued pursuant to the construction code, or other <br />applicable law; <br />(3) Halting building operations when in violation of the construction code, any <br />permit or variance issued pursuant to the construction code, or other <br />applicable law; <br />(4) Preventing occupancy or use of a structure, when violations of the construction <br />code, any permit or variance issued pursuant to the construction code, or other <br />applicable law have occurred; or <br />(5) Initiating criminal enforcement and the imposition of penalties or fees, or <br />both, when authorized by the construction code or other applicable law. <br />(2020, ord 20-61, sec 2.) 5-5-1 <br />SUPP. 17 (1-2025) <br />5-25 <br /> <br />
