§ 5F-2-1 H AWAI‘I C OUNTY C ODE <br />(7) The Uniform Plumbing Code is amended by adding a new section 422.0 to read <br />as follows: <br />“422.0 Minimum Number of Required Fixtures. Plumbing <br />fixtures shall be provided for the type of building occupancy and in the <br />minimum number required in Chapter 29 of the International <br />Building Code.” <br />(8) Subsection 507.13 of the Uniform Plumbing Code is amended by adding the <br />following Exception to the end thereof, to read as follows: <br />“Exception: <br />(1) Water heaters may be installed at floor level in carports <br />having one hundred (100) percent opening on one side and <br />fifty (50) percent net opening on another side or the <br />equivalent of such openings on two or more sides, provided <br /> the adjacent ground level is at or below the flow level of the <br />carport. <br />(2) Fuel burning water heaters having sealed combustion <br />chambers may be installed at floor level. <br />(3) Electric water heaters in garages may be installed at floor <br />level.” <br />(9) A new subsection 508.4.5 is added to the Uniform Plumbing Code to read as <br />follows: <br />“508.4.5 Access. Every attic, mezzanine, or platform more than 16 <br />feet (4.9 meters) above the ground floor level shall be accessible by a <br />stairway or ladder permanently fastened to the building. <br />Exception: No permanent access required for R-3 Occupancies.” <br />(10) Subsection 604.11 of the Uniform Plumbing Code is amended to read as <br />follows: <br />“604.11 Lead Content. The maximum allowable lead content in <br />pipes, pipe fittings, plumbing fittings, and fixtures intended to convey <br />or dispense water for human consumption shall be not more than a <br />weighted average of 0.25 percent with respect to the wetted surfaces of <br />pipes, pipe fittings, plumbing fittings, and fixtures. For solder and <br />flux, the lead content shall be not more than 0.2 percent where used in <br />piping systems that convey or dispense water for human consumption. <br />SUPP. 11 (1-2022) <br /> <br />5F-6 <br /> <br />
