§ 15-67 H AWAI‘I C OUNTY C ODE <br />(4) Structures. <br />Any structure shall: <br />(A) Be named for its neighborhood, community, region, district, or other <br />identifying geographic location; or <br />(B) Be named or re-named for a person or persons alive or deceased, who <br />meet one or more of the following criteria: <br />(i) The person has contributed significantly to the recreational <br />programs in the community in which the structure is located; <br />(ii) The person has achieved significant recognition on the national or <br />international level; <br />(iii) The person has been honored for service with the armed forces of <br />the United States of America; or <br />(iv) The person has accomplished significant achievements in other <br />fields of endeavor which have been of benefit to other persons. <br />(b) Where the name of any person or persons is proposed as the name for an open area <br />or structure, pursuant to subsection (2)(C) or (4)(B), the following information shall <br />be included in the proposal: <br />(1) The full name of the person; <br />(2) The date of birth and, if appropriate, the date of the death of the person; <br />(3) The current or last residence of the person, including street address, town, and <br />district; <br />(4) Association, if any, of the person with the open area or structure to be named; <br />and <br />(5) A brief biography of the person, including all data relevant to the <br />commemorative naming. <br />(1987, ord 87-134, sec 1; am 2005, ord 05-45, sec 2.)15-67 <br />Section 15-68.
