KONA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PLAN ACTION COMMITTEE MEETING OCTOBER 15, 2019 ORAL AND DOCUMENTED PUBLIC TESTIMONY OF LAMAKO MIKAHALA ROY, KAHU AHU'ENA HEIAU, KAMAKAHONU, HAWAII I am LamakG Mikahala Roy, Kahu of Ahu'ena Heiau at Kamakahonu, Hawaii. In 2007, the state of Hawaii caused the closing of doors of the 501-C3 non-profit organization named KGlana Huli Honua, Foundation of the Search For Wisdom. Here was the first organization formed in Hawai'i to uphold the work of ' the Kahu of Ahu'ena Heiau and to advocate for all sacred sites beginning with Ahu'ena Heiau throughout all of Hawaii. The business flourished for more than a decade engaging especially Kona's community in the work to uphold the tremendous value in the lands of the first Capital of the Kingdom of Hawaii unified by Kamehameha the Great. The story of the lands of the Capital involve the stories of all lands throughout ka pae 'aina (the Hawaiian Islands). I've begun the renewed KGlana Huli Honua in the business Keaulama LLC dba KGlana Huli Honua. If Kamakahonu was chosen the Capital of the Kingdom of Hawaii by Kamehameha the Great, what does this tell us about the lands neighboring the Capital? North and South of Ahu'ena Heiau are lands of inestimable value. Here are lands that are VITAL to 'Oiwi, the first people of Hawai'i and the Pacific and to all who truly love the Divine Creator of all mankind. In the 1970's my father Kahu David Keli'ihelemauna Roy, Jr. led the first restoration of a Sacred Temple in all of the Hawaiian Islands by the guidance of Akua in the Ancestors of 'Oiwi. The Temple is Ahu'ena Heiau at Kamakahonu. Ahu'ena means Burning Altar referring to the Great Light there. It was Kahuna La 'au Lapa'au Morrnah Simeona who said the 70's were times of great spiritual advancement for'Oiwi. H6kGle'a traveled to Kahiki, Ho'oponopono was implemented at the Geneva Convention and introduced to the world and Ahu'ena Heiau at Kamakahonu was restored by'Oiwi. In 2010, messages from the Great Pacific Ancestors of the Light of Akua began to come to Kamakahonu. What was 2010 but the 200th anniversary of the unification of the Hawaiian Islands by Kamehameha the Great. They were these Pacific Ancestors whom Kamehameha II King Liholiho praised and acknowledged in his famous words that became the proverb, "Na wai ho'I ka 'ole o ke akamai he alahele I ma'a i ka hele'ia a o'u mau Makua? Who would not be wise upon a path so well -traveled by my Ancestors? This was his response to the praise of his wisdom. Over time, the Great Ancestors have been teaching me and they wish me to teach what I've learned. I lift to you here photos of Ali'i Kahu David Kahelemauna Roy, Jr. and Ali'i Naluahine Ka'6pua, the Konohiki of Kamakahonu for the Kingdom of Hawai'I united by Kamehameha the Great. I sat on his lap; the lap of my Kuku Naluahine at my'Aha'aina Piha Makahiki - First Birthday Feast and Celebration. Kulana Huli Honua - 1 led the people in the strong effort AGAINST the earlier proposal for Alii Parkway. We gathered with participants from ALL walks of life — professors and their students, residents and visitors who gave volunteered effort and then some to help protect Kahakai La'a o Kona, "the Sacred Shore of Kona." Kulana Huli Honua 2 is here tonight with the empowered and enlightened testimony and cause to say AGAIN not only is this project contrary to all laws that protect the sublime history, quality and essence of the spiritual lands of Hawai'I, we're here to ever more greatly give the reasons WHY these lands are VITAL to 'Oiwi and to all mankind on the planet.
