The next meeting is scheduled for September 22, 2021, online or at a location to be announced. <br />Please contact the Department of Environmental Management or monitor the website for updates. <br />The Secretary said that the date listed on the August agenda (September 27, 2021) is incorrect. <br /> <br />(After a motion and second for adjournment, but prior to a vote to adjourn, Chair Adams made <br />a closing statement.) <br />Chair Adams thanked the Commission for participating. We talked about a lot of good things. <br />And again the focus she would try to do for next meeting is, OK, are there some specific things <br />that we want DEM to move forward on? So, think hard, and watch for your mail. Would <br />Commissioners like to see other documents and articles about EPR? We could flood you with <br />stuff. <br /> <br />Commissioner Cardwell replied she would like to see more information, especially from states <br />that are already doing it and how it is working for them. <br /> <br />Chair Adams said that we have a version of EPR for e-waste, although it’s not working well in <br />this County. We have EPR for glass, and our Hi-5 program is working well. So it’s in bits and <br />pieces. She could send over a website that summarizes all the different activities going on in the <br />different states, as far as legislation and policy moves are concerned, but not a lot of data. She <br />did forward a message to look at some of the testimony that was given on the original HB 1316, <br />that talked about some of the challenges and some of the opportunities as well for EPR, and the <br />bill was 66 pages long. There are a lot of devils in the details in trying to make it work, but she is <br />happy to send more information, as she comes across, it to the Commission. <br />10. ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />Motion, second, and vote: Commissioner Olsonmade a motion to adjourn, to which <br />Commissioner Fulton seconded, and the motion was adopted. Ayes: 7(Adams, Cardwell, <br />Fulton, Hoopii, McIntosh, Olson, Robinson); Nays 0; Absent 2 (Burns, Gaffney).
