HAWAI`I FIRE COMMISSION <br />REGULAR SESSION MEETING <br />AUGUST 11, 2021 <br />WEST HAWAI`I CIVIC CENTER <br />74-5044 ANE KEOHOKALOLE HIGHWAY, KAILUA-KONA, HI <br />NOTE: Chair Corey Luke and Vice Chair Benjamin Agdeppa were not able to attend <br />this meeting. Therefore, the commission voted on an acting chair. Commissioner <br />Paleka motioned to make Greg Henkel Acting Chair for this meeting. Commissioner <br />Nakashima seconded, and it carried unanimously. <br />CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL <br />Acting Chair Henkel called the meeting to order at 9:22 a.m. <br />Present: Gregory Henkel, Acting Chair <br />Gerald Kosaki, Commissioner <br />Wesley Mattos, Commissioner <br />Gene Nakashima, Commissioner <br />Daniel Paleka, Commissioner <br />Absent: Corey Luke, Chair <br />Benjamin Agdeppa, Vice Chair <br />Kyle Keamo, Commissioner <br />Shon Magsalin, Commissioner <br />A quorum as present. <br />Also present: Kazuo Todd, Fire Chief <br />Eric Moller, Deputy Chief <br />Dalilah Schlueter, Deputy Corporation Counsel <br />Josie Pelayo, Secretary <br />PUBLIC STATEMENTS ON AGENDA ITEMS (None.) <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />• July 14, 2021, regular session: Commissioner Paleka motioned to approve the <br />minutes. Commissioner Nakashima seconded, and it carried unanimously. <br />July 14, 2021, executive session: Commissioner Paleka motioned to approve the <br />minutes. Commissioner Nakashima seconded, and it carried unanimously. <br />FIRE CHIEF'S REPORT <br />Fire Chief Todd highlighted items from his written report: <br />Highlights: Companies 20 and 7, Battalion Chief 2, and the Coast Guard responded <br />to a call of missing swimmers at Humuhumu Point. The Coast Guard located two <br />bodies, and Company 7 personnel covered them. They responded to wildland fires <br />
