December 3, 1968: The State Land Use Commission (LUC) reclassified 549 acres of <br /> land (makai portion of Waikoloa Beach Resort)from the Conservation District to the <br /> Urban District and 2,865 acres (Waikoloa Village) from the Agricultural to the Urban <br /> District(LUC Docket No. A68-194). <br /> 7. February 14, 1977: Planning Commission approves SMA 25 to allow the development <br /> of the Waikoloa Beach Resort complex that included the construction of 3,000 hotel <br /> rooms, 3,430 multiple-family residential units,two (2) golf courses and other recreational <br /> amenities, commercial facilities, and other related support facilities and infrastructure. <br /> 8. April 9, 1985: Planning Commission approves an amendment to SMA 25 to allow the <br /> development of the Hyatt Regency Waikoloa hotel site as part of the Waikoloa Beach <br /> Resort complex. <br /> 9. January 9, 1990: The LUC reclassified 853.187 acres of land (mauka portion of <br /> Waikoloa Beach Resort, including the subject properties proposed to be withdrawn from <br /> SMA No. 25) from the Agricultural to the Urban District and reduced the total number of <br /> residential units entitled to 3,365 to be spread throughout the entire resort area (LUC <br /> Docket No. A89-637).
