HSCSW liaison report
Cyd shared the current Kaua'i County report on the impacts of the pandemic on
women. This report had been requested by the Kaua'i County CSW committee.
Chair shared the HCSW version for Hawai'i County in Resolution 680-20.
Cyd offered State Commission support for the Hawai'i County Committee for
the upcoming year, and encouraged requests for funding be made soon.
B. Family Violence Interagency Committee (FVIC)
No report. No members attended. Kahea offered to be the Designee moving
forward. Chair says Kahea can state her role in HCSW at any future meetings.
Chair shared that up to 4 members of HCSW can attend FVIC meetings, which
are held every 1st Monday of the month for East Hawaii. The West Hawaii
meetings directly conflict with our HCSW meetings. Regular emails from Allen
should be coming to every HCSW member as an invitation to attend. Shana said
she is not getting the emails. Chair said she will follow up with Allen about this.
Action Item: Chair to ask Allen to include all members of HCSW to the FVIC
email list.
C. MMNHWG Task Force
Mihaela will report on the task force next month. Chair will send the current report
for inclusion in minutes.
IX. OLD BUSINESS
A. Communications: Brochure, Family Services Directory, Social Media
Brochure needs to be updated before distribution due to membership turnover.
Discussion about term limits commenced. Hannah's term ends on Dec. 31, 2021.
Chair asked Pomai and Cody about terms, and the preferred staggered terms.
Questions about reappointment arose. Current holdover members did not have to
reapply in the past. Chair notes that Bylaws allow four year terms per member,
not per district. Therefore, any new replacement member should get four years.
Chair says that staggered terms are preferable in order to maintain quorum.
Chair notes that 6 members will be at the end of their term in 2022, and any new
members should be brought in with four year terms each, including Hannah.
Pomai said usually, holdovers from Mayor's advisory boards such as HCSW
allow for a 90 day holdover and all must reapply for another term in that time.
Action Item: Cody to research and clarify Bylaws/county rules regarding terms.
