Solid Waste: There are no municipal waste collection services in the County. All solid waste generated by the development will be disposed of at the County's Pu`uanahulu landfill, approximately 18 miles north of the site. The applicant prepared a Solid Waste Management Plan as required by Condition No. 13 of LUC Docket No. A00-073. The plan was subsequently accepted by the Department of Environmental Management— Solid Waste Division on August 21, 2006. 20. Essential Utilities and Services: Electricity and telephone services are available to the site. The Kealakehe Police Station is located about 1.5 miles south of the project site, and fire protection is provided by the Kailua-Kona Fire Station located approximately three miles south of the property. The Kona Hospital is located in Kealakekua, approximately ten (10) miles from the site. AGENCIES' COMMENTS 21.
