I'm trying to look for I guess the application regarding what we're <br /> talking about. Was this in the previous memo that we got? Because I kind of sort of want to <br /> know what they are asking for. I mean I understand what we're talking about but, I was looking <br /> through my papers here to see what the application is. <br /> VITOUSEK: I think there'll be a presentation from the applicant when the agenda item comes <br /> forward. <br /> YATES: Okay, okay, all right, thank you. <br /> VITOUSEK: You bet. Continuing on with the public testimony. Nathaniel Kinney are you <br /> available? <br /> KINNEY: Yes, I am here Chair. <br /> VITOUSEK: Okay. <br /> KINNEY: Members of the Commission, the Hawaii Regional Council of Carpentry would like <br /> to offer their strong support for the Kumu Hou at Waikoloa. Kumu Hou is committed to using <br /> union labor throughout the projects development and that's going to support hundreds of local <br /> laborers and their families showcasing a deep commitment to Hawaii Island. Kumu Hou is <br /> good for Hawaii Island and our community. Time shares are resilient and stable, and these are <br /> the qualities that we need to get out of this downturn from the pandemics partial effect on us. <br /> Timeshares are generally the first to return to operation and draws higher occupancy then hotels <br /> and because timeshare owners return more often as hotel guests, they also tend to have a greater <br /> appreciation and respect for our community. <br /> They spend more while they're here and, most importantly, timeshare visitors do not encroach <br /> into community spaces, unlike vacation rentals. Simply put timeshare visitors are some of our <br /> State's most reliable and highest spending guests. We believe we need the economic boost that <br /> Kumu Hou at Waikoloa will provide. The project is a substantial investment at Waikoloa and is <br /> another example of thoughtful stewardship by the Waikoloa Land Company, which has a track <br /> record of responsible development on the island and I just wanted to thank you for your <br /> consideration.
