Sunshine Law's Intent <br /> Sec. 92-1, HRS <br /> •Protect the people's right to know; <br /> -,Provisions requiring open meetings shall be <br /> liberally construed; and <br /> -,Provisions providing for exceptions to the open <br /> meetings requirements shall be strictly <br /> construed against closed meetings. <br /> Additionally, the law expressly tells us that it is the intent of the Sunshine Law to <br /> "protect the people's right to know" and that "[t]he provisions requiring open meetings <br /> shall be liberally construed" and that "the provisions providing for exceptions to the <br /> open meetings requirements shall be strictly construed against closed meetings! <br /> 4 <br />
