RULES AND REGULATIONS <br />1. All entrants shall be confined to fishing from the shoreline of the Big Island (must be accessible by foot, no <br />dropping off by boat. <br />2. Use of kites, boats or any type of floatation devices, swimming, surfboarding or kayaking the bait and lead out <br />is prohibited. <br />3. Entrants must cast his or her own pole (men's division only). <br />4. There will be a 4 pole limit. <br />5. At the time of the strike, the fish must be hooked, fought and brought to gaff by the entrant only. Partner may <br />assist only in removing bell, safety rope and landing the fish (men's division only). <br />6. Hang -bait method is allowed if the leader line is connected directly to the reel and the bait is hung from the <br />tip of that pole. <br />7. Fish that appears to have been frozen or spoiled will be disqualified. <br />8. A fish that has been mutilated or bitten by a shark will be disqualified. <br />9. A fish that has been entangled with another pole's line and brought up on both lines will also be disqualified. <br />10. This tournament is based upon, but not limited to the rules and regulations of the "2022 P&R Ohana Shoreline <br />Fishing Tournament". Anyone found to have violated these rules and regulations will be disqualified from this <br />tournament, and tournaments thereafter. All merchandise awards will be forfeited. <br />11. Minors must be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian or a responsible adult during the entire tournament. <br />QUALIFICATIONS FOR MENS, WOMEN, TEENS, CHILDREN AND SENIORS <br />1. Open to anyone who has paid their applicable fee, signed the release and indemnity form, and has submitted <br />their application prior to or postmarked no later than July 8, 2022. <br />2. If we do not have your registered entry at the weigh-in, you will be disqualified. Call 964-3301/936-4285 by <br />7-31-22 to verify registration. <br />3. Open to anyone interested in straight pole and rod and reel fishing. <br />4. Abides by and adhere to the rules and regulations of this fishing tournament. <br />5. Divisions: Men (18 years old and older), Women (18 years old and older), Teens (13-17 years old), <br />Children (5-12 years old), Seniors (55 years old and older). <br />6. All entrants in a specified division are eligible to win prizes and awards in that specific division only. <br />7. All entrants may only win once in each place/awards, except for the "Ghana Division." <br />8. Department of Parks & Recreation employees and their immediate family members are ineligible to enter. <br />RULES FOR THE "OHANA DIVISION" <br />1. "Ohana teams" will consist of only ONE Adult (18 years old & older) and one or more youth participants (5 - <br />17 years old). <br />2. Participants must be immediate family members (mother, father, sister, brother, grandfather or grandmother.) <br />3. Participants may enter the "Ghana Division" only and/or another appropriate division. <br />4. Prizes will be awarded to the total weight of the three following specific species of fish: Kupipi (gray <br />damselfish), Po'opa'a (spotted hawkfish), and U'u Menpachi (soldier fish). Only one fish of each species are to <br />be weighed. <br />5. At least two members of the team must catch a qualifying fish to be weighed in. One member cannot catch all <br />the fish. <br />6. Come to the weigh-in with the largest fish in the three categories. You must determine ahead of time your <br />largest fishes. <br />WOMEN, TEEN, CHILDREN & SENIORS CATEGORY/QUALIFICATIONS <br />1. Open to anyone interested in straight pole or rod and reel fishing. <br />2. Open to all women, teens, children or seniors who have paid their applicable fees and have signed the <br />release and indemnity form. All minors must have a parent or legal guardian sign the release and indemnity <br />form. <br />3. Abides by and adheres to the rules and regulations of this fishing tournament. <br />4. Minors must be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or a responsible adult during the entire tournament. <br />5. Divisions are as follows: Children (5-12 years old), Teens (13-17 years old), Women (18 years old and older), <br />Seniors (55 years old and older). <br />6. If a woman, teen, child or senior places in a category, prizes received will be merchandise gift. All other places <br />will receive merchandise/gift certificates. <br />7. At the time of the strike, the fish must be fought and brought to gaff by the entrant only. Partners/parents may <br />assist in casting and landing fish. <br />
