The Fire Chief and administrative staff coordinate department resources and activities. The <br />department recognizes two distinct divisions, emergency operations and support services. <br /> <br />Emergency operations include eleven eastside fire stations (Battalion 1) and nine westside fire <br />stations (Battalion 2). Special Operations units also conducts search and rescue, hazardous <br />material response, and ocean safety. Ocean Safety exists independently from battalion <br />command. The stations respond to a full array of public emergencies, including fire suppression, <br />hazardous materials incidents, rescue operations, and emergency medical operations. <br /> <br />Support Services Division provides essential services to the public and emergency response <br />personnel that support the mission of HFD. They include the Fire Prevention Bureau, Training <br />Bureau, Emergency Medical Services Bureau, and the Auxiliary Services Bureau. <br /> <br /> • Fire Prevention Bureau provides: <br /> o Public fire education programs <br /> o Inspections <br /> o Investigations <br /> o Maintains current codes <br /> o Conducts plan reviews <br /> • Training Bureau provides: <br /> o Education <br /> o Training <br /> • Emergency Medical Services Bureau provides: <br /> o Mobile advanced life support service <br /> ■ Definitive treatment of trauma and fall prevention assessment <br /> ■ Community paramedicine programs <br /> • The Auxiliary Services Bureau consists of: <br /> o Communications section <br /> o Apparatus and equipment repair section <br /> o The warehouse/logistics section <br /> <br /> <br />10 Page <br />
