DARROW:Thank you, Mr. Chairman. If I may direct your attention to the location <br />map. The area of this application is within the North Kohala district of Hawai`i. This white line <br />running across the bottom of the map is the Akoni Pule Highway running in a north-south <br />direction. This way towards north Kohala and this way towards Kawaihae. The area more <br />specifically of this application is within the Kohala Estates Subdivision. The actual property is <br />identified with the right red dot located at this point. You would travel on- north on Akoni Pule <br />Highway, you would take a right onto Ala Kahua Drive and proceed approximately a half a mile, <br />and the property is located on the left side of the road almost directly across from the Pua Mau <br />Botanical Gardens that’s also located in the area. <br />The applicants in this case, Kimi Cook Walls and Robert Walls, are requesting a change of zone <br />for their property of 7.74 acres of land from an Agricultural-5 acre to a Family <br />Agricultural-3 acre zoned district. More specifically on the site plan if you were travelling from <br />the highway up you would come across the property on the left side of the road. On the property <br />there is a single family dwelling that’s located approximately in this area. The applicants are <br />going to be requesting to sub-, further subdivide this property if approved, be able to retain one <br />portion and sell the other with the property that has the single family dwelling. The Planning <br />Director is recommending that the Planning Commission send a favorable recommendation for <br />this application to the County Council. Are there any questions? <br />GALDONES:Commissioners, any questions of Mr. Darrow? Commissioner Springer? <br />SPRINGER:Thank you. Is the language that we’re working off of now from the newly <br />approved General Plan? <br />DARROW:At this point when we were working on this application we were working <br />actually from the previous General Plan. <br />SPRINGER:And the LUPAG maps also? <br />DARROW:Correct. <br />SPRINGER:Thank you. <br />GALDONES:Seeing no further questions from the Commissioners, will the applicant or <br />his representative please step forward.
