construction of the Ali`i Highway extension, both of which have been planned for many <br /> years. <br /> 34. Water: According to the applicant and the Department of Water Supply, the applicant <br /> has secured a total of fifty (50)water commitments at an average of 400 gallons per day <br /> per unit or a total allocation of 20,000 gallons per day. As required by Condition B of the <br /> subject change of zone ordinance,Aina Engineers Inc. prepared water usage calculations <br /> for the proposed 62-lot subdivision that will follow LEED silver design/certification <br /> criteria that defines a baseline use of approximately 320 gallons per day for each <br /> residential unit or total allocation of 19,840 gallons. According to the applicant,two (2) <br /> additional lots within the proposed subdivision will be set aside as archaeological <br /> preserves with one (1) additional lot to be set aside as open space, all of which will not <br /> require water service. According to DWS,the applicant made the necessary payments on <br /> January 4, 2022 to extend these water commitments to June 30, 2023. Finally, the <br /> applicant will be required to construct necessary water system improvements to provide <br /> potable water and sufficient fire flow to the project meeting with DWS requirements. <br /> 35. Wastewater: The project will connect to the County sewer system. According to the <br /> applicant, pursuant to Condition L of the subject change of zone ordinance, Aina <br /> Engineers Inc. prepared a sewer study for the project that was approved by the <br /> Department of Environmental Management. <br /> 36. Solid Waste: Solid waste generated by the proposed project will be collected and <br /> disposed at approved County solid waste disposal facilities. <br /> 37. Essential Utilities and Services: Electricity and telephone services are available to the <br /> site. The Kealakehe Police Station is located about six (6)miles north of the project site, <br /> and fire protection is provided by the Keauhou Fire Station located approximately four <br /> (4)miles south of the property on Kuakini Highway. The Kona Community Hospital is <br /> located in Kealakekua approximately five(5)miles south of the site. <br /> AGENCIES' COMMENTS <br /> 38.
