<br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I <br />HEARING TRANSCRIPT <br />MARCH 6, 2008 <br />HILO FARMERS MARKET LLC <br />A regularly advertised hearing on the application of <br />(SMA 07-000026) <br />was called to order at 11:15 a.m. in the County of Hawaii, Aupuni Center <br />Conference Room, 101 Pauahi Street, Hilo, Hawaii, with Chairman Rodney Watanabe presiding. <br />PRESENT: Rodney Watanabe <br /> Kimo Alameda <br /> Lani Bowman <br /> Takashi Domingo <br /> Andrew Iwashita <br /> Shelly Ogata <br /> Alvin Rho <br /> Rene’ Siracusa <br /> Rell Woodward <br /> <br /> <br />Ivan Torigoe, Deputy Corporation Counsel <br />Christopher Yuen, Planning Director <br />Norman Hayashi, Planning Program Manager <br />Phyllis Fujimoto, Staff Planner <br />Jeff Darrow, Staff Planner <br /> <br />And approximately 10 people from the public in attendance. <br /> <br />APPLICANT: HILO FARMERS MARKET LLC (SMA 07-000026) <br />Special Management Area (SMA) Use Permit application for the construction of a 3-story <br />commercial building at the current Farmers Market site at the corner of Kamehameha Avenue <br />and Mamo Street, downtown Hilo, South Hilo, Hawaii, TMK: 2-3-8:20. <br />WATANABE: We are now on Agenda Item No. 4. This would be Hilo Farmers Market <br />LLC Special Management Area Use Permit (SMA 07-000026). And so I believe Mr. Darrow is <br />going to make the presentation. We do have some individuals signed up to testify. If there is <br />anyone else who would like to testify please make sure you address this with Sharon Nomura. <br />Mr. Darrow? <br />DARROW: Thank you, Mr. Chairman. The applicant in our next application is Hilo <br />Farmers Market LLC. They’re requesting a Special Management Area Use Permit to allow the <br />construction of a 3-story building and related improvements on 7,456 square feet of land. <br />The application is located within South Hilo, more appropriately it’s within Downtown Hilo. <br />Just for reference we have Kamehameha Avenue, we have Bayfront Highway.
