<br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI€I <br />HEARING TRANSCRIPT <br />APRIL 7, 2006 <br />A regularly advertised hearing on the <br />GENERAL PLAN INTERIM AMENDMENTS <br />was called to order at 1:14 p.m. in the <br />INITIATED BY THE PLANNING DIRECTOR <br />County Building, Councilroom - Room 201, 25 Aupuni Street, Hilo, Hawai€i with Chairman C. <br />Kimo Alameda presiding. <br />PRESENT:C. Yuen, Planning Director <br />Norman Hayashi, Planning Program Manager <br />Phyllis Fujimoto, Staff Planner <br />Jeff Darrow, Staff Planner <br />And approximately 8 people from the public in attendance <br />INITIATOR: PLANNING DIRECTOR <br />General Plan Interim Amendments which include proposed changes to the text, policies, courses <br />of action, Land Use Pattern Allocation Guide Map and Facilities Map. <br />ALAMEDA:Agenda Item No. 4, New Business. Initiator is the Planning Director, and <br />this is the General Plan Interim Amendments. We will be taking testimony on this as well. And <br />this is part of our continuation on our last weeks workshop, if you will. And just for the <br />testifiers, I want to give you a heads up that, if we can keep the testimony specific to the proposal <br />that the Director will be sharing with us today and not try to go off on anything else. So we ask <br />that you pay attention to this part of the proceedings at this time; and Ill turn it over to <br />Mr. Director or staff. <br />YUEN:Ill take it over. <br />ALAMEDA:Okay, thank you. <br />YUEN:Good afternoon, everyone. This is actually the first public hearing on a set <br />of interim amendments. Most of you were here last week. We did a workshop on these <br />amendments where these amendments were the only item on the agenda; and we went through <br />them one by one. Im really at the pleasure of the Commission as to whether the Commission <br />wants to start with that kind of a presentation. It did take a couple of hours last time.
