COMMENTS FROM THE VICE CHAIR – Clyde Silva <br />Patricia Nye will be out until July. <br /> <br />6. EXECUTIVE ON AGING REPORT AND UPDATES – Horace Farr and Staff <br />4-Year Area Plan (2023 – 2027) – Clayton Honma, Mary “Keola” Kenoi-Okajima <br /> <br />Horace Farr introduced Clayton and Keola as Planners and the upcoming Area <br />Plan, and what the involvement is in the community. <br /> <br />Clayton and Keola presented the upcoming 4-Year Area Plan for 2023 – 2027. <br />They shared the five (5) major topic areas that will drive the next area plan. <br />Those topic areas are: <br />1) Older American Act Core Programs <br />2) COVID-19 <br />3) Equity <br />4) Expanding Access to HCBS <br />5) Caregiving <br /> <br />They also informed the Committee that they will be asking for their support and <br />help when we go out to the public hearing in their districts. <br /> <br />They also asked for volunteers from the Committee who would like to participate <br />in the Focus Groups. <br /> <br />7. STATE POLICY ADVISORY BOARD FOR ELDERLY AFFAIRS (PABEA) – <br />Shelly Ogata <br />Shelly mentioned two bills did not make it at the legislature: (1) Hawaii State <br />Health Insurance Assistance Program Appropriation; and the (2) Healthy Aging <br />Appropriation. <br /> <br />Shelly also handed out the Kupuna Caucus package bills that are continuing to <br />move. (Handout) <br /> <br />Shelly Ogata also mentioned the Long Term Care Ombudsman appropriation for <br />positions and the Long Term Rental Assistance Pilot Program for Kupuna. The <br />last one the Kupuna Caucus has been following, but is not necessarily a part of <br />the Kupuna Caucus package, is an attempt to remove the ceiling on the Office of <br />Health Care Assurance special fund. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
