<br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I <br />MINUTES <br />JUNE 5, 2008 <br />. <br />The Planning Commission met for a site inspection at 1:00 p.mregarding the application of <br />JOHN T. AND MARY K. SULLIVAN (SMAA 06-000201), <br />Kapoho Vacationland <br />Subdivision, Kapoho, Puna, Hawaii, and at its regular meeting at 3:30 p.m. in the Aupuni Center <br />Conference Room, 101 Pauahi Street, Hilo, Hawaii with Chairman Rodney Watanabe presiding. <br />PRESENT: Rodney Watanabe ABSENT & EXCUSED: C. Kimo Alameda <br /> Lani Bowman Andrew Iwashita <br /> Takashi Domingo <br /> Shelly Ogata <br /> Alvin Rho <br /> Rene’ Siracusa <br /> Rell Woodward <br />Ivan Torigoe, Deputy Corporation Counsel <br />Jeff Darrow, Staff Planner <br />Maija Cottle, Staff Planner <br /> <br />Thomas Yeh, Esq. representing the Petitioners <br />Mary Sullivan, Petitioner <br />And approximately 8 people from the public in attendance. <br />The Commissioners met on Wai Opae Road fronting the subject property at 1:00 p.m. <br />Mr. Darrow pointed out the boundaries of the subject property and gave an orientation of the <br />subject and surrounding properties on the site plan. He then briefly described the project. <br />The Commissioners viewed the 14 shoreline survey markings in the area ranging from 29 to 46.3 <br />feet which was done for the Community Association for the Wai Opae Road. <br />The Commissioners then walked onto the subject property where the applicant pointed out the <br />ponds in the area and the proposed location for the house pad. <br />The Commissioners then walked back onto Wai Opae Road where Mr. Darrow pointed out the <br />location of the port-a-potty mentioned in the application. <br />Facing mauka on the left corner of the property on Wai Opae Road, Mr. Yeh explained their <br />poster to the Commission which included a map of the area, photographs of a 3.2-foot high tide <br />taken on June 4, 2008, pictures of homes built in the area, and grade comparisons of Lot 21 vs. <br />Lot 36. <br /> <br />
