INITIATOR: PLANNINGDIRECTOR <br />Amendment to Chapter 25 (Zoning Code), Hawaii County Code, by deleting the Plan Approval <br />and Landscaping requirements for the construction of one single family dwelling and accessory <br />buildings per lot within the various zoning districts. <br />(SEE EXHIBIT C) <br />GEOTHERMAL The Commission again took this item up at 10:20 a.m. with <br />ASSET FUNDone person from the public in attendance. <br />JAN MALASEK <br />KEAHIALAKA, <br />PUNA <br />CLAIMANT: JAN MALASEK <br />Continued hearing on the Geothermal Asset Fund Claim in the amount of $27,494.00 to <br />compensate for a loss of income from an orchard and nursery operation due to geothermal <br />activity in the area. The property is located at 13-683 Leilani Avenue, approximately 1600 feet <br />south of the Leilani Avenue  Pohoiki Road intersection, Leilani Estates Subdivision, <br />Keahialaka, Puna, Hawaii, TMK: 1-3-28:18. <br />(SEE EXHIBIT A, from 10:20 a.m.) <br />WORKSHOPThe Commission took up the following at this time, 11:55 a.m., <br />with no one from the public in attendance. <br />Discussion on procedures and process relating to Planning Commission matters  Mr. Yuen <br />announced that this workshop will be continued to a future meeting. <br />ADMINISTRATIVEThe Commission took up the following administrative matters <br />MATTERSat this time, 11:56 a.m. <br />Planning Commission Handbook <br />Mr. Yuen said that the Planning Department is preparing a Planning Commission <br />handbook which would contain such things as the statutes the Commission works under and the <br />criteria for decision-making. <br />Contested Cases <br />Mr.YuensaidthattheDepartmentisproposingthattheCommissionconductcontested <br />case hearings on relatively simple matters the same day the request for intervention is <br />considered.Henotedthatinsomecontestedcasehearingsittooklessthananhourandafter <br />reading the hearings officer report to the Commission, the Commission would hear exactly the <br />samethingsthatweresaidtothehearingsofficer.HesaidtheDepartmentwouldplacethisitem <br />probably at the end of the agenda and parties would be informed that they must be prepared to <br />3 <br /> <br />
