<br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />HEARING TRANSCRIPT <br />MAY 22, 2008 <br />A regularly advertised hearing on the PUNA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PLANwas <br />called to order at 4:13 p.m. at the King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel, 75-5660 Palani Road, <br />Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, with Chairman Rodney Watanabe presiding. <br />PRESENT: Takashi Domingo ABSENT & EXCUSED: C. Kimo Alameda <br /> Shelly Ogata Lani Bowman <br /> Alvin Rho (Left at 6:07 p.m.) Andrew Iwashita <br /> Rene’ Siracusa <br /> Rodney Watanabe <br /> Rell Woodward <br /> Ivan Torigoe, Deputy Corporation Counsel <br />Christopher Yuen, Planning Director <br />Norman Hayashi, Planning Program Manager <br />Phyllis Fujimoto, Staff Planner <br />Jeff Darrow, Staff Planner <br />Maija Cottle, Staff Planner <br />Larry Brown, Planner, Planning Department <br />Jon Olson, Chairman, Puna Community Development Plan Steering Committee <br />And eight people from the public in attendance. <br />PUNA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PLAN <br />Review of the draft Puna Community Development Plan submitted by the Puna Community <br />Development Plan Steering Committee and its Consultant, PlanPacific, Inc. <br />WATANABE: We are on Agenda Item No. 3, which is the Puna Community <br />Development Plan. And with that, I think I’ll turn it over to Mr. Hayashi. <br />HAYASHI: Thank you, Mr. Chair. As you recall, the Planning Commission had a <br />th <br />hearing on the Puna Community Development Plan at its last meeting on May 8, and that was <br />held at the Keaau Middle School Cafeteria. At that meeting the consultant as well as the <br />Steering Committee Chair and Mr. Brown from our office gave a presentation. Also at that <br />hearing there was a number of individuals from the public who presented testimony; I think we <br />had over 25 people that testified at that hearing. So at this time, although we do have Mr. Olson <br />and Mr. Brown here for this meeting, perhaps we could dispense with a presentation by them <br />unless the Commissioners -, and this will be at your discretion, and perhaps leave it up to the <br />Commission as to whether they would like to ask, if you have any questions, to ask all to these <br />individuals. <br />EXHIBIT C <br />1 <br /> <br />
