Merit Appeals Board <br />February 11, 2022 <br />There are five ayes. The motion has been carried. Waylen Leopoldino, we are very pleased to <br />announce that you are the new Director of the Department of Human Resources, effective <br />February 16'', 2022. <br />Waylen, are you accepting the Merit Appeals job offer as the new Director of Human Resources <br />for the County of Hawaii? <br />MR. LEOPOLDINO: I humbly accept. <br />CHR. CABANAS: Thank you very much. We have a letter that all five Board members signed <br />and I want to read it to you. So: <br />Dear Mr. Leopoldino. This is to confirm your appointment as the new Director of <br />Human Resources for the County of Hawaii, effective February 16, 2022. The Salary <br />Commission has set the annual salary for the director's position at $128,628.00. <br />The Merit Appeals Board extends our congratulations to you as you move forward in the <br />administration of the Human Resources Program for the County of Hawaii. <br />At this time Ms. De Soto will present a lei to you with best wishes from all five Board members <br />and everyone present here in the Council Chambers and the staff from the Department of Human <br />Resources on your new journey as the Director of Human Resources, effective February 16, <br />2022. <br />(At this time, Ms. De Soto presented Mr. Leopoldino with a lei). <br />CHR. CABANAS: We will have more picture taking after the meeting, Waylen. The Oath of <br />Office will be administered to you at the Department of Human Resources on February 16'h <br />which is next Wednesday—at 8 a.m. in the Department of Human Resources. And I will be <br />there to administer the Oath to you. Okay. <br />At this time, I'd like to open up the floor to our Board members, if they want to express any <br />congratulatory remarks to you, this would be the time. So, we'll start with Mr. Ventura. <br />MR. VENTURA: Waylen, congratulations and welcome to your new role as the Director of <br />Human Resources of this great County of Hawaii. And I look forward to working with you and <br />whatever support I can be in my role as a Board member—feel free to let me know whatever it <br />is. Aloha. <br />CHR. CABANAS: Thank you, Mel. Ms. De Soto. <br />MS. DE SOTO: Yes, congratulations, Waylen. We are very excited to have you on board as our <br />new Director of Human Resources.
