Merit Appeals Board <br />Call to Order (Item 1) <br />July 18, 2022 <br />CHR. CABANAS: Good morning, everyone. The Merit Appeals Board meeting is called to <br />order at 10:00 a.m. on this day, July 18, 2022. <br />We have quorum today with three members present. I'm Gabriella Cabanas, Chair, of the Merit <br />Appeals Board. Present with me at the Hawaii County Building in Hilo Hawaii, at 25 Aupuni <br />Street, First Floor, Room 1401, in Hilo, at the Hilo Council Chambers are Ms. Gay Mathews— <br />MS. MATHEWS: Here. <br />CHR. CABANAS: Good morning, Gay. And Ms. Kate De Soto. <br />MS. DE SOTO: Good morning. <br />CHR. CABANAS: Good morning, Kate. Our two other Board members are absent and excused <br />today—Mr. Charlie Kunz and Mr. Mel Ventura, our Vice-Chair—are not here today. <br />Also, in the Hilo Council Chambers with us are J Yoshimoto, our Assistant Corporation Counsel. <br />MR. YOSHIMOTO: Good morning. <br />CHR. CABANAS: Good morning, J. And our Secretary -Reporter, Glynis Yamada. <br />MS. YAMADA: Good morning. <br />CHR. CABANAS: Good morning. Also, sitting in via ZOOM is our Deputy Attorney General, <br />Amanda Furman—good morning, Amanda. And we also pardon? Oh, she's still connecting? <br />She will be connected soon? Okay. <br />And also, we have Mr. Relley Araceley from the Office of the County Clerk staffing the <br />computer equipment to ensure the Board has ZOOM capability. <br />Also, sitting in the Hilo Council Chambers with us is Mr. Ryan Thomas from the Office of the <br />Corporation Counsel. <br />MR.
