Merit Appeals Board <br />December 20, 2022 <br />all know that our entire department contributed to this mission statement. They took <br />ownership—and each and every one of the staff and managers came up with this mission <br />statement—and they're very proud of it. And I wanted to share it and present it to the Merit <br />Appeals Board. <br />I'll read it, if I may, "The Department of Human Resources provides support and guidance to <br />assist departments in achieving their missions. Through strategic partnerships, we build a culture <br />of intention, focused on innovation to attract, support, engage, and retain a competitive <br />workforce. We encourage a positive, inclusive, and rewarding work environment that values and <br />advocates for all." <br />And so, this is what each of the staff has in front of them on their workstations and we're <br />working on enlarging it so that we have one big one in our office, so that they can walk in every <br />day and be proud of something that they came up with. <br />What we also did was, I also incorporated what we had discussed in the comments from my last <br />director's report. So, I wanted to make sure that the comments that were made were, kind of, <br />incorporated in here. And it actually worked out because we were all on the same page. It was <br />not difficult at all to come up with this. And everybody was very happy and pleased with it. <br />So, I wanted to share this with the Merit Appeals Board because this represents our department. <br />And I know you guys don't get to interact with the staff on a daily basis, but this is kind of our <br />heart and soul that each and every one of us put in our hard work and soul that's a copy for you <br />to keep. <br />MS. Thank you, Waylen. <br />CHR. CABANAS: Okay. I just want to say "thank you" to you and your staff for coming up <br />with this because I know it's great to have participatory input—and then, they own it.
